eric + austin
we both moved to the seacoast early in the summer of 2022; it was a time of transition! we met (on grindr lol) in september and after working through some (get ready for a brutal euphemism)…logistics… made our relationship official (or whatever you want to call it) just before christmas. we’ve covered a lot of ground together in the 3+ years we’ve been together; we’ve both started new careers, we’ve travelled (austin wore a speedo for most of a family trip to the bvi), in 2023, we moved into a new house (new to us, it was built in 1810) and now we’re planning a wedding!
eric proposed on august 1. when it came to wedding planning, we knew immediately that we wanted to celebrate here in portsmouth. after resisting the urge to get married immediately - largely at oma’s request! - we landed on june 20 both because the date is a palindrome (6.20.26) and because it falls during pride month (our wedding day, as a matter of fact, is the same day as portsmouth’s pride parade and festival!).
when it came to the plan for the day (and the weekend!), we decided that we want to share our favorite portsmouth pastimes with those we love: a glass of wine in prescott park, a walk through downtown, some killer food at one of our favorite spots, and then back to our house for a great party! save for the pastor (hi wes!), the band, and the tent in the backyard it’ll be just like any other saturday on the seacoast.
we hope you’re able to make it - and that you can stay a while! please take a look at the things to do while you’re here page and don’t hesitate to reach out to either or both of us to help you make a plan for your visit.
The Wedding Day - details
what to wear
summer cocktail attire, we want you looking sharp and festive!
we’ll be doing some walking around town, please plan your footwear accordingly.
what not to wear
jeans or jorts, athleisure, cargo-anything, shorts probably (right?)
getting around
we’ll gather at prescott park and walk 3/4 of a mile through town to dinner and then after dinner, another 3/4 mile walk to our house for the party. we will have a shuttle van running from dinner to our house starting at 7pm should you prefer not to walk with the group. the van will also be available to drive groups from our house to your car or hotel after the party.
parking
we encourage you to walk or uber to prescott park. there is limited free street parking near our house (on Dennett Street, Mill Pond Way, and Kane Street) please be respectful of our neighbors and do not drive on lawns or block driveways or walkways
travel and accommodations
fly
Fly into Boston Logan (BOS), Manchester Regional (MHT), Portland Jetport (PWM), or Portsmouth International Airport (PSM).
From BOS, the C&J Bus runs hourly to and from Portsmouth.
Ubers can be scheduled to pick you up at the bus station and bring you into town (it’s a very short ride!)
drive
There are two large parking garages in town where you can ditch your car. Foundry Garage and Hanover Garage
You likely won’t need your car much during the weekend (unless you really don’t like walking).
stay
There are many great options available right downtown that range from the AC Marriott and the Sheraton to boutique spots like The Sailmakers House, Hotel Thaxter, and the Inn Downtown. If you don’t mind being a little outside of town, Wentworth-by-the-Sea, is a beautiful resort in New Castle, just a 5 minute drive from downtown Portsmouth.
Short term rentals are available through Airbnb and VRBO. We’d recommend spots as close to Market Square as possible - that’ll put you right in the middle of town. If you’d like us to take a look before you book, don’t hesitate to reach out!
